Cellulosic Metal Primer is a one-component, fast air-drying and modified-alkyd resin-based primer. It has very good adhesion to metal surfaces, easy sanding, and very fast drying features.
Cellulosic Metal Primer is designed for preparing a smooth surface for the topcoats applied to the sheet metal surfaces used especially in the manufacture of automobile and vehicle-mounted equipment.
In order for the cellulosic system to show the expected performance, the surface preparation processes are as important as the application itself. All kinds of moisture, chloride, sulfate salts, rust, rolling crust on metal surfaces should be removed from the surface by grit spraying method at Sa 2 ½ degree (in line with Swedish standard SIS 05 5900), or by mechanical method (in line with St 2 standard). Moreover, metal surfaces must be free of dust, dirt, oil, etc. Weld spatters and sharp corners of surfaces must be ground. After different cleaning processes, surfaces need to be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, clean or dry air, or a clean brush. After the aforementioned processes, there should be a slight metal shine on the surface, and it should be applied to the surface preferably immediately, at the latest within 45 minutes. Cellulosic Metal Primer is brought to the application viscosity by adding Cellulosic Thinner at the specified rate (application viscosity should be adjusted as 15” - 17” / DC4 / 20°C in spraying applications). In order for the Cellulosic Primer to show the expected effectiveness, it is recommended to be applied to the surface with a dry film thickness of at least 40-50 μ. If the wet application is not required, at least 30 minutes need to be waited for the second layer to be accepted. Industrial Topcoat Paint, Rapid Topcoat Paint, Synthetic Topcoat Paint, Cellulosic Topcoat Paint, Epoxy Topcoat Paint, Polyurethane Topcoat Paint, Acrylic Topcoat Paint can be applied to Cellulosic Metal Primer.
